from various African tribes e.g. Chokwe, Tikar, Puna, Teke, Kwele, Bobo,
Massai to name but a few. Masks are very sought after items due to their
connection with african belief, rituals, initiations and various other ceremonies.
Unfortunately Africa is starting to modernise itself and it is only a question
of time before the ancient beliefs and rituals will be something of the
past and lost to the remaining world. We must treasure our African arts
and history while we still can as authentic African art is very difficult
to obtain.
